Siquijor Island

Thought of going to Siquijor for an adventure. I heard that tourists can rent a motorcycle to go around the island. I was totally sold of the idea.

Siquijor is located in Central Visayas. It's well-known for voodoo, sorcery, witchcraft and all nasty evil stuff that makes you skeptic to go to this island. Some say that the myth was only created to protect the island from foreign invaders. But some say that they really exist.

We had some guidelines from friends who went before us:
1. Drink bottled water only
2. Don't make eye contact
3. And don't piss off anyone

They're pretty obvious. :) And it won't hurt if you follow these too.

But what's more exciting is to rent a motorcycle and explore the island on your own! Prior to this trip, our auntie gifted us a map. It was pretty helpful but still instinct is much needed plus some tips from the locals or from the staff in the resort.

The rental for the motorcycle was just around P500 for the whole day plus gasoline.

So here's our short itinerary.

1. 400 years old Balete Tree. No entrance fee, just donation. You can also donate your dead skins to the fishes living in this pond. :)

2. Second Stop - Cambugahay Falls

Note: You'll have to walk down 130+ steep steps. And just imagine how you'd go up! It's not fun!

3. Lazi Convent and just in front is the St. Isidore de Labrador Church. One of the oldest churches in the Philippines.

4. Salagdoong Beach - for daring adventurers, there's cliff diving here.

I didn't show on this picture the picnic huts which are kinda eyesore.

I love how blue the sky and the ocean were.

5. Mangrove Forest

This place is kinda creepy as there's no people around. We hurried home. :P

It took us around 6 hours to tour the island with stops at some resorts to eat and rest. You can also visit the faith healing centre, though the roads getting there are quite challenging. We don't want to get lost, so we didn't go. I have to admit that we're scared in a way.

Along the road, you'll find beautiful coasts. And these are the things you'll miss if you just book a tour and go with the crowd.
