A quote that I live by - "You choose your own adventure and destiny".

However, my decisions are sometimes crazy and irrational.  Like what happened to me in Coron.

After scuba diving, I went straight to Zip Line! After depth, I conquered heights.  My body has not yet recovered from underwater pressure, but I still went for some heights. CRAZY!  At first it was okay, but after a while I realized something was wrong!  The feeling was wrong!!! I got dizzy and felt REALLY sick.

Anyway, zip line was also amazing because of the view.  It's my first time to try zip line over the ocean.  And first time to see something like it in the Philippines.

Cost is just about P500+ including gears, zip line, souvenir picture, and merienda (They serve pancit, burger, etc).   The owner was very accommodating.  He held our camera and took hundreds of photos.  It almost came out as a video! Obviously, he didn't want to miss a thing.  ;)

I never heard that Coron offers zip line until our trip.  I just saw the advertisement in the tricycle.  Our driver gladly took us in the location.  It's just in the center of the town/pier.

I planned our trip for four days so at least we can go island hopping for 2 whole days.  The earliest flight going to Coron (Busuanga airport) arrives at 9am-ish.  It takes 30 to 45 mins to go to the main town (where the hotels are).  It will be around 10-11am before you reach your hotel.  It's too late for Island hopping as it usually starts at 9am.

Traveling in Coron is easy. No need to book at travel agencies.  

Itinerary: 

Day 1 - You can explore the town, or hike Mt. Tapyas and check out the view deck, or try the zip line, or  go skinny dipping in Maquinit salt water hot springs ;).   No need to book anything early, just look for a tricycle to take you to these places.   Coron locals are very  hospitable and friendly.  I didn't find anyone who had intentions to rip off.  I AM SO GLAD!

Day 2 - Coron Island Tour.  Look for a travel agency in Coron town (they're everywhere, but just in case, you might wanna try the agency where we booked, here's the link:  Nice Paradise Tours. We only paid P650 for the whole day tour including lunch, water, tour guide (except for the mask and snorkel)  CHEAP!

Day 3 - Go for the other Island Tours or Scuba Diving or try  Fun Dive (which we did).  Important: Other island hopping tours are only available if you met the minimum number of persons traveling. Otherwise, NO TOUR!   If you have extra bucks, you can hire a private boat (it's around P4,000-P5,000).

My main goals in Coron were to go island hopping and to snorkel at least in one of the shipwreck dive sites.

Coron is known as the Shipwreck Capital of the Philippines (well, I just knew when I saw someone wearing it as a statement shirt).  I did one of the island tours on our 2nd day.  On the following day, since there were no other island tours available, we decided to go for a fun dive.  It was marketed to us by the hotel staff in Corto del Mar.  He said tourists really go for diving in Coron instead of island tours.

After a while, the dive master/manager (who's French) approached us and asked if we're interested.  Corto del Mar has its own dive shop.  We discussed about risks, difficulty, prices, etc.  We're sold about the idea and very excited about it.  It's my first time to dive!!! YAY!!!!

The fun dive only costs P2000 per dive, per person, including gears plus lunch.  If you wanna go to another dive site, that's another P1,300 (you can go at Twin Peaks, ship wreck, or Barracuda lake).  We did two, so we paid total of P3,300 for the whole day.  I think it's pretty cheap since there were just two of us in the boat plus each had his own dive master.

We woke up early, had breakfast, and went to the dive shop which is 5 mins away from the hotel - went before 9am for gear fitting.  Then the divers drove us to the port and by boat we went at CYC beach where we were instructed of basic Scuba skills - like how to remove water from your mask, how to remove water from your breathing apparatus, how to breathe without it, how to equalize, how to balance, and basically how to NOT DIE DOWN THERE! :)








There's truly another world under the deep blue sea - mountains of coral reefs, schools of fish in different colors and sizes, amazing view.  It's one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my life.  Our dive master said that the sites we went at are not even close to the best dive sites in the Philippines, but I'm in awe already.

Our second dive site was at Twin Peaks.  We snorkeled at the same place the day before.  There were lots of jelly fish.

A week before our flight, I searched for hotels and their reviews (while also checking weather websites to check rain chances plus also praying for the sun to come out and for the clouds to shoo away).
